With the Miami Dolphins coming off their first victory of the 2011-12 season in the tough Arrowhead Stadium, they are looking to begin their first winning streak this season. The Dolphins (1-7) are trying to find their second consecutive win against a struggling Washington Redskins’ team (3-5) on their home field Sun Life Stadium.
The Redskins are not going to be “a walk in the park” that is for sure. John Beck will most likely be the starting quarterback for Mike Shanahan’s team and Sunday will be his return to south Florida.
In week 9 the Washington Redskins were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers, one of the best teams in the NFC. Beck had 254 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Runningback Roy Helu had a stunning performance recording 146 all purpose yards.
The Dolphins finally got a one in the win column in defeating the Chiefs, 31-3, Matt Moore had one heck of a performance and so did runningback Reggie Bush . The defense came to play, looking like one of the best defenses in the NFL.
Key match-ups in this game:
Quarterback trouble has been tough for both teams, but especially with the Redskins. It is a toss-up who starts each week: Rex Grossman or John Beck. Beck is still searching for his first win half way through this season. Will he get it against the phins? Matt Moore retrieving his first win this past week looks to get the ball flying again. I’m sure a lot of NFL fans were shock to see Matt Moore have that great of a performance to give the Dolphins the victory this past week.
Sometimes the Dolphins play to their opponent’s potential and I feel like this match-up could have an affect. The Redskins are 20th in the NFL giving up 122 rushing yards per game. A great sign for the Miami Dolphins thus far is the running game. In last week’s victory, Reggie Bush recorded 92 rushing yards and a touchdown. This week the young and talented Daniel Thomas will be back in uniform after missing a good amount of time this season.
The Miami Dolphins have a battle within themselves. Not getting the job done at home has been a problem for the Dolphins for many seasons. In the 2011-12 season, their home record is 0-3 and in the past two seasons, they have established a 5-11 record inside Sun Life Stadium. If you ask me why the team isn’t getting the job done at home. I would not respond because I don’t have an answer. With one or two wins coming out of the loss column, the Miami Dolphins could have easily made the playoffs in both years.
The Miami Dolphins are looking for their second straight win and the Redskins are looking for their fourth victory this season. Should be a great one, tune in on FOX at 1 p.m.
