With the Miami Dolphins being 0-4, your probably thinking it can’t get any worse from here. Well it does, quarterback Chad Henne is now on injured reserved for the rest of this 2011-12 season.
Who are the canidates that will fill the giant shoes for the former Wolverine? On Thursday, October 6th, the Miami Dolphins signed former Houston Texans’ backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels. In his career, he has recorded 4,156 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions. Rosenfels has decent value but can he really be an accurate starter? It’s tough to compare and evaluate the two because they aren’t starter-worthy. I would say give Matt Moore a chance. Moore showed in week 4 against the San Diego Chargers that he can play with the big boys, don’t expect Dan Marino but maybe a quarterback with a different dimension.
Is it a sign with Henne getting injured, that Luck is in the future? Signing Sage Rosenfels is throwing in the white flag, and emphasizes it’s time to move on to Andrew Luck. The Stanford Cardinal has a bright future. There is not another place in the league where this man fits. A lot of talk about Peyton Manning mentoring him but I just don’t believe Manning is done. The perfect scenario is Miami. It will eventually work out for both sides. Luck, has the ability to become one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. And for all you Dolphins’ fans I would think this answers the next great to follow Marino.
So who is this Luck guy? The 6’4 senior is the quarterback out of Standford. Throughout his collegiate career with the Cardinals, the potential Heisman canidate has an astonishing 7,296 yards, 59 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. This season he has recorded 1,383 yards, 14 touchdowns, and two interceptions (ESPN.com).
If that doesn’t say how good is going to be? I got news for you, better start thinking about “12” and hop on the “Luck Train”.
